Design Based on Theories of Categorization
Design Based on Theories of Categorization
Rather than use normalization theory for design, it is possible to take
a logical clustering approach based on category theory, case-based reasoning,
and explanation-based reasoning. This approach also includes an ever
evolving system point of view. See H.W. Beck, T. Anwar, and S.B. Navathe,
"A Conceptual Clustering Algorithm for Database Schema Design,"
Communications of the ACM, Vol. 6, No. 3, June 1994, 396-411.
