Abstract: World Wide PACTS allows you to access PACTS training materials over the internet. You can select a page from a PACTS training manual and Learn, Pretest, Review, and Certify on the page. You can also receive updates when a training manual assigned to you is updated or modified.

Log In Screen

When you start World Wide PACTS, the first screen you will see is a screen where you must enter your user name and password. Type your user name in the Enter your user name field and type your password in the Enter your password field. Then choose the Log In To PACTS button.

If the user name and password you enter is not correct, PACTS will display the log in screen again for you to retype your name and password. If your user name and password is correct, PACTS will continue to the next screen.

Welcome Screen

The Welcome Screen is the first screen that appears when you start World Wide PACTS (unless you have a test which you did not complete the last time you used World Wide PACTS in which case the question you left off on will be displayed.)

World Wide PACTS Button Bar

At the bottom of every screen in PACTS (except the log in screen and The testing screens) you will find the World Wide PACTS button bar. There are four buttons at the bottom of the screen.

If you press the Learn Menu Button, PACTS will display the Learn Menu which shows all the pages, lessons, and updates which are assigned to you.

If you press the Pretest Menu Button, PACTS will display the Pretest Menu which shows all the pages, lessons, and updates which you have learned but not yet passed a pretest on.

If you press the Certify Menu Button, PACTS will display the Certify Menu which shows all the pages, lessons, and updates which you have pretest on, but not yet passed a certification test on.

If you press the Help Button, PACTS will display on-line help.

Learn Menu Screen

The Learn Menu screen displays all the books, updates, and lessons that are assigned to you.

How do I get here?

You can get to the Learn Menu screen by clicking on the Learn Menu button at the bottom of each World Wide PACTS screen (except login and test screens).

Expanding and Collapsing books

When you first start World Wide PACTS, any books assigned to you may not yet be expanded. Only the title of the book will be shown. However, the title of the book is a hotlink. If you click on the title of the book, the screen will reload with the book expanded. If you click on the title of the book when the book is expanded, the book will return to its collapsed state.

You can also click on sections to expand and collapse them.

Statuses

To the left of the name of each page, update, or lesson is the status of the item. The following status are possible:

no status The page, lesson, or update has not yet been learned.

(learned) The page, lesson, or update has been learned.

(pretest) A pretest has been passed for the page, lesson, or update.

(f.pretest) A pretest has been failed for the page, lesson, or update.

(certify) A certification test has been passed for the page, lesson, or update.

(f.certify) A certification test has been failed for the page, lesson, or update.

Options

To the right of each page, update, or lesson are options to Learn the item, Pretest on the item, Certify on the item, and Review on the item. These options are displayed in a different color indicating that if you click on them, you will jump to a new page on which you can learn, pretest, review, or certify on the item.

Only appropriate options are displayed, for example a page which you have not yet passed a pretest on will not allow the option of certifying on the page until you pass the pretest.

Sometimes, the trainer will require that a certain amount of time pass between failing a pretest and retaking a pretest, passing a pretest and taking a certification test, and failing a certification test and retaking a certification test. If this is the case, the Pretest or Certify option may have a small clock next to it. This means that you must wait to take the test.

Rule count

To the right of each page is a count of the number of paragraphs or rules in the page. This number is displayed in square brackets.

Pretest Menu Screen

The Pretest Menu screen shows the pages, lessons, and updates which you have learned but not yet passed a pretest on.

How do I get here?

You can get to the Pretest Menu screen by clicking on the Pretest Menu button at the bottom of each World Wide PACTS screen (except login and test screens).

Statuses

The Certify Menu screen shows the pages, lessons, and updates for which you have passed a pretest but not yet passed a certification test.

You can get to the Certify Menu screen by clicking on the Certify Menu button at the bottom of each World Wide PACTS screen (except login and test screens).

Learn Screen

The learn screen shows all the rules or content items for the page, lesson, or update you selected.

How do I get here?

You can get to the Learn screen by clicking on the "| Learn |" link to the right of a page, lesson, or update on the Learn Menu screen, Pretest Menu screen, or Certify Menu screen.

Level

The level of each rule is displayed in brackets at the end of each rule.

Making Comments

As you read through the rules, you can make a comment on any rule by clicking on the Comment icon at the end of each rule. When you click on the Comment icon, the Comment Screen will appear.

Comment Screen

The Comment Screen is used for making comments on rules or questions.

How do I get here?

You get to the Comment Screen by clicking on the Comment icon that appears after each rule or question.

How do I make a comment?

The rule or question you selected to make a comment on is displayed in the area at the top of the Comment Screen. At the bottom of the Comment Screen is a boxed area where you can type your comment on the rule or question you selected. Type your comment in this area. Then press the Send button to submit your comment.

If your comment is successfully submitted, PACTS will display a screen that says "Comment has been saved." with the World Wide PACTS Toolbar at the bottom of the screen. If you want to return to the page you were working on, press the Back arrow on your browser twice.

Review Screen

The Review Screen is used for reviewing tests you have taken before. If you choose to review a pretest, PACTS will also show you the pretest questions you were asked, the correct answer, and the answer you marked (indicated by a vertical bar next to each answer you marked.) If you choose to review a certification test, PACTS will just show you the rules. In both cases, PACTS will bold and italicize the rules that were linked to questions you missed on the test. In this way, you can focus on reviewing the rules that you had problems with.

How do I get here?

You can get to the Review screen by clicking on the "| Review |" link to the right of a page, lesson, or update on the Learn Menu screen, Pretest Menu screen, or Certify Menu screen.

When you click on the "| Review |' link, PACTS will display a screen listing previous tests you have taken for that item. Choose a test from this screen by clicking on it. Then the Review Screen will appear.

Making Comments

As you read through the rules and questions, you can make a comment by clicking on the Comment icon that appears after each rule and question.

Testing Screen

You will see the Testing Screen when you take a test. The Testing Screen displays one question at a time from a pretest or certification test. You choose the correct answer, then choose the Check It! button.

During a screen, the World Wide PACTS Toolbar is not available. In addition, if you stop in a middle of a test, then log in to PACTS at a later time, PACTS will remember where you left off on your test and ask you the ext question.

How do I get here?

You can get to the Testing Screen by clicking on the "| Pretest |" or "| Certify |" link to the right of a page, lesson, or update on the Learn Menu screen, Pretest Menu screen, or Certify Menu screen.

You can also get to the Testing Screen by clicking on "| Pretest Now! |" or "| Certify Now! |" links at the top of a Learn Screen.

Answering Questions

Use the mouse to answer the question. For a multiple choice, true or false, or yes or no question, click on the check boxes or radio buttons to the left of the correct answer or answers. For a fill in the blank question, enter a one word correct answer for each blank. Each blank can only have one word.

When you have entered your answer, choose the Check It! button.

If you answered correctly, World Wide PACTS will show you the next question.

If you answer incorrectly, World Wide PACTS will show you the rule that was linked to the question, and ask you to read the rule again, then try to answer the question correctly.

If you answer the question incorrectly more than two times, PACTS will fill in the correct answer for you.

Making Comments

As you read take a test, you can make a comment on any question by clicking on the Comment icon that appears after each question.

Completing a Test

After you answer all the questions on a test, PACTS will tell you whether you scored high enough to pass the test.
